We are currently looking for a reliable and hardworking Material Handler (Forklift Operator) to join our indoor metal recycling facility. This is a hands-on position ideal for someone with experience in metal recycling, forklift operation, and working in an industrial environment.
Responsibilities
- Welcome customers and provide excellent customer service as they enter the facility.
- Receive and inspect incoming recyclable materials from both public and industrial customers.
- Sort and separate metals by grade and type.
- Manually sort materials to improve quality before final processing.
- Dismantle machinery and equipment, strip wire, and use shears to recover recyclable metals.
- Operate a counterbalance forklift to load and unload trucks and move materials throughout the facility.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
- Assist with general plant duties as required.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in a metal recycling, scrap yard, or similar industrial environment.
- Valid Counterbalance Forklift Licence (required).
- Knowledge of non-ferrous metals such as copper, brass, stainless steel, aluminum, and insulated wire.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Good English communication skills.
- Able to work in a physically demanding environment with exposure to hot and cold temperatures.
- Health & Safety Certification (or willingness to obtain one).
- CSA-approved safety boots are required.
- Available to work Saturday mornings.
